The
intention of my painting process is not to record information only but to employ
the language of brushwork to engage with a moment in time, a particular time of
day and a season of the year together with my selection of subject, which both
in the house and on Hythe Beach for example, is constantly changing. In this
respect I admire the late work of John Constable and David Bombery.
I
have been married for 38 years to Jenny who before retiring 4 years ago as a
ceramics and sculpture teacher also made stoneware hand-built pots. I have 2
sons; the eldest, Hugo teaches English to foreign language students and he is a
poet, as yet unpublished. Luke is a conceptual artist with several significant
exhibitions including The Economist and he recently gained his MA at Goldsmiths.
