I came to painting late in life, and as an artist I am more or less self-taught .I work in oil paint mostly from drawings and sketches. I keep to  a disciplined palette using very few colours and I concentrate on figures in simple compositions.
Body language is all-important.

I live near Rye and the picturesque local beachscapes of Camber Sands, Winchelsea and Pett Level are my venues. There is usually a light hazy overcast which gives a soft milky light. The foreshores are flat so that the tides go out a very long way, leaving behind an ever-changing scene of pools and lagoons, with reflections that change with the winds, picturesque old timbers and groynes and a great Dune system. People and families come here to exercise horses and dogs, fly kites, build sand-castles, play beach games, swim and splash by the water and just have fun. This is what I set out to to depict. My aim is to evoke memories of happy times.

I am fortunate in having a following of collectors, many owning several of my paintings. I exhibit regularly at leading galleries in Kent and East Sussex and my paintings are in private collections in many parts of the world.
